NOTE Before You Begin To install openSUSE, you need at least 96MB of main memory, although more is always better, and future releases may require greater amounts of memory for installation and usability. For a desktop install, however, I recommend at least 256MB of main memory. The default installation of openSUSE 10.3 from the KDE install CD included on the DVD with this book requires at least 2.5GB of disk space. The default installation from an official openSUSE 10.3 DVD requires 3.25GB of disk space. You can get by with less by deselecting packages during installation. Installation should work on any Pentium-class x86 PC. The openSUSE installation DVD contains a total of 4.1GB of data.
